The CARLA camp is an inclusive pan-European photonics career camp aimed at university students and early-stage researchers (graduates, undergraduates, Master’s students, PhD students and early stage post-docs) from all STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and Photonics focused areas. It will give you a peek into the vast opportunities that the photonics careers landscape offers and provide you with a roadmap for better employability.

On November 17
– Listen to inspiring presentations about the use of photonics for major societal challenges such as health, energy/climate, consumer needs and industrial production with a reminder about the essence of light.
– Discover the very diverse Photonics careers in academy and industry (including startups) through testimonials and panel discussions.
– Network with experts from academia, industry and entrepreneurship in a casual atmosphere with food, drinks and music.

On November 18
– Discover more general aspects of career developments: soft skills, human resources expectations, useful networks and associations, flexibility, needs from industry, the future of work, alumni of EPFL etc.
– Deeper focus on entrepreneurship: how to transform a brilliant idea into a successful start-up.
– European and global photonics landscapes.
– EPFL Photonics labs (pitches)
– The role of diversity to foster innovation and help better tackle societal challenges.
